My first time... in a gym

I joined Fitness First recently and "burdened" myself with a hefty $133 monthly memebership fee. The consultant refused to lower the fees and I did a check among some friends and they were all paying the same rates. Well, the price of health and fitness. The good thing about it is that it's just opposite my office!! And the full membership allows you to use facilities at other clubs. Capital Tower and George St outlets have indoor swimming pool, whch is a very huge draw.

So far I have used the pool once and the gym machines such as the treadmill, bicycle, ab-machines, etc about once or twice only. Anyway I think I shall skip the treadmill and bicycle for awhile as my lower back pain came back after I did all those exercises. No wonder when I tried brisk walking, my back hurt terribly. Probably the lower lumbar disc is injured or weak.

Anyway my exercise plan now is to swim everyday before work. Hope I can persevere! The best part is that the bathing facilities (with shampoo, conditioner, bodywash, hairdryer, etc) and locker areas are clean and nice, just like a spa and there are people to clean up after you. Haha... Convenience and lazy me.

In addition, there are classes which you can attend at your leisure, so I tried out aqua-aerobics with my friend but we made an embarrassment of ourselves as we were laughing at each other, the gayish instructor and in the end we were kicked out of the class because we did not register in the first place. Haha. I also had my first personal training session (FOC) last week and my muscles ached the whole week! Was taught some abdominal crunches, some pilates moves and some thigh and butt tightening exercises. I probably won't keep to all, but I will try doing leg raises and abdominal crunches before I sleep at night to tone my tummy. And I must model after someone - that's my mum and my aunt! My mum lost some weight and is at her lightest in all her years while my aunt has quite toned legs and thighs after the treadmill and bicycle regime for almost 3 months.

I guess it's good to sweat and no more loose triceps flapping the air, no loose calf muscles or loose abdominal muscles. I must, I must, I must exercise!!!
