Somehow I have been really busy recently, especially in early May when my salespersons and boss went for a week-long seminar in China. I would love to go along but I had to hold the fort in the office and I was not much of a heavyweight for them to spend money on me to go for the seminar. Sigh. Sad, yah?
Anyway, I have been really busy, this is like the busiest period since I joined this company. In a nutshell, it’s like a mad rush. It’s just pure madness. There can be so many things to do or emails to attend to at the same time. The salesperson might just tell you that it is urgent and another does the same or they may give you something really complicated that takes some time to deliver. Also some last minute stuff may come in about 5pm, which is near going home time and I have to rush it out if I want to go home by 6pm but sometimes I am delayed. Sometimes I have to rush things out so I won't miss a day for US or Europe. Now that I have come to the idea to stay abit longer if necessary, I am not so hung up or anxious about that. Yet, in the last two weeks, I stayed till 6.30pm or sometimes even 7pm. At times after I went home, I still went online to check my office email.
Last Friday was the worst case I ever came across where a client did not have his material ready even though I had reminded him a day earlier of the submission. This client is familiar with our work procedures and as a gesture of goodwill, I sent him a reminder a day earlier! However, the next day, the client can tell me that nothing’s been done and I had to ask for help from my other colleagues in other offices and even thought of going to a shop that provided the service needed. The client was absolutely clueless – what a useless male manager. I wondered how he climbed up the ladder to be a marketing manager! So Friday was just a mad dash to clear up this client’s mess or void for that matter.
Let’s hope this week is much freer so I can stone and go back exactly at 6pm. And no more headaches (physically and metaphorically), please.
